本校は韓国の三一工業高等学校と姉妹校であり、今年度も昨年度に引き続き相互訪問を企画しています。

７月３０日「国際フレンドシップ・デー」も近いので、文化的な友好関係を築くことも目的として、８月３０日（日）に日本文化に関する学習会を実施しました。昨年度の交流で盆栽をテーマに日本文化を紹介したところ大変好評だったため、今年度も韓国訪問時に紹介したいと考えています。

今年度も大宮盆栽美術館の学芸員・田口文哉様に全面協力いただき、日韓姉妹校連携大使の生徒が盆栽の見方や楽しみ方などを学びました。特に、盆栽を下から見上げることで見え方が全く変わるのだと教わり、実際に体験すると感動していたようでした。

また、昨年度作成したという大宮盆栽村開村１００周年記念グッズを先方へのお土産の一つにといただきました。このグッズを通して、盆栽の魅力を伝えたいと考えています。

Our school has a sister-school relationship with Samil Technical High School in South Korea, and this school year, as we did last year, we are planning reciprocal visits.

With “International Friendship Day” on July 30 fast approaching, we held a study session on Japanese culture on Sunday, August 30, with the aim of fostering cultural friendship. Since our presentation on Japanese culture—focused on bonsai—during last year’s exchange program was very well received, we plan to feature it again during our visit to South Korea this year.

Once again this school year, with the full cooperation of Mr. Fumiya Taguchi, a curator at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, students serving as Korea-Japan Sister School Partnership Ambassadors learned how to view and appreciate bonsai. In particular, they were taught that looking up at a bonsai from below completely changes the way it appears, and they seemed deeply moved when they experienced this firsthand.

We were also given some commemorative items marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of Omiya Bonsai Village—which were reportedly created last fiscal year—to include as one of the souvenirs for our hosts. We hope to convey the appeal of bonsai through these items.
