It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you from Albion Park High School in Australia to Saitama Municipal Omiya Kita High School today.

All of our students and teachers warmly welcome you,

a total of 20 people, including 17 students and 3 teachers.

Our school and Albion Park High School have been sister schools since 2012.

We continued to exchange visits until 2019, fostering a deep friendship.

Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19, our exchange was suspended until 2024.

It is a great joy for us to be able to welcome you again,

and it also symbolizes a new beginning.

Although your visit is only two days long,

you will be paired with our students and engage in various interactions both inside and outside the school.

Today, you will experience Japanese school life through activities on campus, and tomorrow, you will experience the history and culture of Kawagoe, the Little Edo town.

We are sure that this will be an unforgettable memory for you.

We hope that your visit will further deepen the ties between our two schools and be a valuable step towards the future.

In fact, when I was vice principal at our school in 2011, I came up with the idea of ​​a sister school partnership between the two schools and asked Miss Toriumi, who was an English teacher at our school at the time, to put it into action. She was a graduate of the University of Sydney.

But in 2012, I was transferred to the Board of Education and was unable to participate in the actual exchange between the two schools.

Today is my first exchange, so I am very happy now.

皆さん、こんにちは。はじめまして、校長の関田です。

本日は、オーストラリアのアルビオンパーク高校からの皆さんを、さいたま市立大宮北高等学校にお迎えできることを、心から嬉しく思います。生徒17名、教員3名、計20名の皆さんのご来校を、生徒・教員一同、心より歓迎いたします。

本校とアルビオンパーク高校は、2012年から姉妹校として交流を続けてまいりました。2019年まで相互訪問を重ね、深い友情を育んできましたが、残念ながら新型コロナウイルスの影響により、2024年まで交流が中断されていました。こうして再び皆さんをお迎えできることは、私たちにとって大きな喜びであり、再出発の象徴でもあります。

今回の訪問は2日間という短い期間ですが、本校の生徒たちとバディを組み、校内外でさまざまな交流を行っていただきます。今日は校内での活動を通じて日本の学校生活を体験し、明日は小江戸川越の歴史と文化に触れていただきます。きっと、かけがえのない思い出となることでしょう。

皆さんの訪問が、両校の絆をさらに深め、未来につながる貴重な一歩となることを願っています。どうぞ、大宮北高校での時間を存分に楽しんでください。

実は私は、本校の教頭だった2011年に、両校の姉妹校提携を考え、当時本校の英語教員だったミス鳥海に実行してもらいました。彼女はシドニー大学の卒業生でした。

2012年に私は教育委員会に異動したため、両校の実際の交流には参加できませんでした。私にとっては今日が初めての交流です。だからとてもうれしい。

改めまして、ようこそさいたま市へ、ようこそ大宮北高校へ！
