ASPnet：大宮盆栽美術館での学習会を実施しました
We held a study session at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum!
本校は韓国の三一工業高等学校と姉妹校であり、今年度は相互訪問を企画しています。ユネスコスクールとしても国際交流を重要視している学校です。
今回は、日本文化を紹介するにあたって「盆栽」をテーマにすることとしました。
世界的には非常にメジャーでありながら、あまり取り上げる機会がないかも知れないと感じテーマとしました。また、さいたま市には世界でも類を見ない盆栽園の集合地区（なんと地名も盆栽町）があり、その中にさいたま市が運営する大宮盆栽美術館があります。
７月３０日「国際フレンドシップ・デー」も近いので、文化的な友好関係を築くことも目的としており、本校が韓国へ行ったときに「盆栽とは」ということを説明する予定ですが、実物を持っていくのは難しいため、三一工業高等学校のみなさんが来日した際に盆栽園周辺を案内したいと思っています。
７月２７日（日）の学習会では、大宮盆栽美術館の学芸員・田口文哉様に全面協力いただき、日韓姉妹校連携大使および補佐の生徒が盆栽の初歩を学びました。
樹齢などにばかり目が行きがちですが、そもそも盆栽には表と裏が存在することや松柏盆栽（しょうはくぼんさい）と雑木盆栽（ぞうきぼんさい）に分けられること、大きさを保つために定期的に植え替えを行い根の大半を切ってしまうことなどを学びました。
教えていただいた内容を踏まえていざ実物の盆栽を鑑賞すると、新たな発見がたくさんあり、盆栽そのものの見え方が変わりました。盆栽を育てる技術も含めて日本文化として紹介していきたいと感じました。
学習会の帰りに、近くの大宮公園や氷川神社も見学しました。三一工業高等学校のみなさんを案内する準備も進めていきたいと思います。

Our school is a sister school of Samil Technical High School in South Korea, and we are planning mutual visits this year. As a UNESCO School, we place great importance on international exchange.
This time, we have chosen “bonsai” as the theme for introducing Japanese culture. While bonsai is very well-known worldwide, we felt it might not be a topic often discussed, so we selected it as our theme. Additionally, Saitama City is home to a unique cluster of bonsai gardens (with the neighborhood even named “Bonsai-cho”), including the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum operated by the city.
July 30 is International Friendship Day, so we do one of the goals is to build cultural friendships. When our school visits Korea, we plan to explain what bonsai is, but since it is difficult to bring actual bonsai with us, we would like to guide the students from Samil Technical High School around the bonsai garden when they visit Japan.
On July 27 (Sun), with the cooperation of Mr. Fumiya Taguchi, a curator at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, the Korea-Japan Sister School Collaboration Ambassadors and their assistants learned the basics of bonsai.
While it is easy to focus on the age of the tree, we learned that bonsai has both a front and back, is divided into pine and cypress bonsai and deciduous bonsai, and requires regular repotting to maintain its size, which involves cutting most of the roots.
After learning these points, when we actually viewed the real bonsai, we discovered many new things, and our perception of bonsai itself changed. We felt that we would like to introduce bonsai as part of Japanese culture, including the techniques for growing it.
On the way back from the study session, we also visited Omiya Park and Hikawa Shrine nearby. We would like to proceed with preparations to guide the students of Samil Technical High School.
