I-POP25: Monday, December 1st from 4:00pm to 5;15pm (JST)

Can you imagine being in a global classroom where you have a lesson with students from around the world?

PROP (= Pacific Rim Online Program) and I-POP (= Indo-Pacific Online Program) try to bring this idea to reality. This year marks the 5^th year that Omiya Kita High School has been hosting PROP and the 2^nd year of I-POP. But this is the first time that both programs covered the same theme.

世界中の生徒たちと授業を受けるグローバルな教室を想像できますか？

PROP（環太平洋オンラインプログラム）とI-POP（インド太平洋オンラインプログラム）はこの構想を実現しようと試みています。今年、大宮北高校がPROPを主催するのは5年目、I-POPは2年目となります。しかし両プログラムが同じテーマを扱ったのは今回が初めてです。

This year’s theme was based on the World Expo 2025 that was held in Osaka, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” with the sub-themes of “saving lives, connecting lives and empowering lives”. From this idea we came up with the theme of “Creative Culture” for PROP25 and I-POP25. Participating schools of these programs took on the task of coming up with solution ideas for local or global social problems using current technologies and some part of their culture within the concept of their solutions. These problem-solving ideas were made into presentations and shared online at these events.

今年のテーマは大阪で開催された2025年万博「私たちの生活のための未来社会をデザインする」に基づき、「命を救い、命をつなぎ、命を力づける」をサブテーマとしました。このコンセプトから、PROP25とI-POP25のテーマとして「創造的文化」を掲げました。参加校は、地域や世界の社会課題に対し、最新技術と自分の文化の一部を解決策のコンセプトに取り入れ、解決策を考案する課題に取り組みました。これらの課題解決アイデアはプレゼンテーションにまとめられ、各イベントでオンライン共有されました。

PROP25 and I-POP25 had a total of 26 different presentations combined from 11 schools from 6 countries.

Tech Driven Solutions: Smart Care and Flexibility for Fertility Revival (Taiwan)

Transforming Abandoned Structures in Sustainable Housing (Guam)

Energy Security and Shift to Renewable Energy (India)

Museum in Your Pocket: Legacy of Nicholas Roerich (Russian Embassy)

Mental Illness from Loneliness and Stress (Japan)

PROP25とI-POP25では、6カ国11校から合計26の異なる発表が行われました。

主な発表内容：

ヒマラヤの学生生活：ソロクンブ（ネパール）からの挑戦とインスピレーション

技術主導型ソリューション：スマートケアと柔軟性による出生率回復（台湾）

廃墟の構造物を持続可能な住宅へ転換（グアム）

エネルギー安全保障と再生可能エネルギーへの移行（インド）

ポケットの中の博物館：ニコライ・レーリッヒの遺産（ロシア大使館）

孤独とストレスが引き起こす精神疾患（日本）

The total number of participants for both programs went over 230 people.

PROP25 was held on Friday, November 21^st with 108 students from 7 schools from 3 countries (Japan, USA [Hawaii & Guam], Taiwan).

I-POP25 was held on Monday, December 1^st with 80 students from 7 schools from 5 countries (Japan, Taiwan, India, Nepal and Russian Embassy in India).

And the support of over 40 teachers and administration from the participating schools is what helped to make this event a success. (The reason for having two separate programs is due to the time differences between all of the countries that are invited to these events. There were actually over 20 schools from 11 countries on the invitation list for both events.)

両プログラムの参加者総数は230名を超えました。

PROP25は11月21日（金）に開催され、3カ国（日本、米国［ハワイ・グアム］、台湾）の7校から108名の生徒が参加しました。

I-POP25は12月1日（月）に開催され、5カ国（日本、台湾、インド、ネパール、在インドロシア大使館）の7校から80名の生徒が参加しました。

参加校から40名を超える教員・職員の支援が、本イベントの成功を支えました。

（2つの別プログラムを実施した理由は、招待国間の時差によるものです。両イベントの招待校リストには、実際には11カ国20校以上が名を連ねていました。）

It was really a blessing to see students from various countries sharing and discussing their ideas about issues that are related to them. This year we recognized the fact that technology is moving at its fastest pace ever, but to also be conscious of not losing our identity in the midst of all of these changes. And a part of not losing our identity is remembering who we are and to remember our culture.

様々な国からの学生たちが、自分たちに関連する問題について考えを共有し議論する姿を見られたことは、本当に恵まれたことでした。今年は、技術がかつてない速さで進歩している一方で、こうした変化の中で自らのアイデンティティを失わないよう意識することも重要だと認識しました。そして、アイデンティティを失わないための要素の一つは、自分たちが何者であるかを自覚し、自らの文化を記憶に留めることなのです。
