本校は韓国のスウォン市にある三一工業高等学校と姉妹校連携を行なっています。今年度は相互訪問をすることが決まっており、まずは本校が韓国を訪問しました。

本プロジェクトでは、日韓姉妹校連携大使および大使補佐として、生徒が計画を立て実行することを大切にしてきました。３日間の韓国訪問プランも生徒たちによる計画です。学校レベルや高校生レベルでできる日韓連携を推進しています。

Our school has established a sister school partnership with Samil Technical High School in Suwon, South Korea. This year, we decided to conduct mutual visits, with our school making the trip to Korea.

In this project, we have emphasized having students plan and execute activities as Korea-Japan Sister School Partnership Ambassadors and Assistant Ambassadors. The three-day visit to Korea was also planned by the students themselves. We are promoting Korea-Japan collaboration at both the school level and the high school student level.

【韓国訪問２日目：2025.09.11】

活動内容：三一工業高等学校での交流、世界遺産のスウォンファソン（水原華城）見学

この日は１日を通して姉妹校である三一工業高等学校との交流を行いました。生徒同士はバディを組み、様々なプログラムに挑戦しました。プログラムは盛りだくさんで、先生方や生徒と非常に仲良くなることができました。訪問前にオンラインプログラムで顔を合わせており、昨年度の調印式に参加していた生徒や先生もいたので、「久しぶり！」からスタートすることができました。

ウェルカムセレモニーではお互いの学校を紹介しあい、理解を深めることができました。三一工業高等学校は１２０年を越える伝統校であり、１０学科もあるため、敷地は大学のように広大でした。バディとして参加してくれている生徒も様々な学科から選抜されているようで、それぞれがどのようなことを学んでいるのかを教えてくれました。

本校のプレゼンには日本文化の一つである盆栽を紹介する内容も取り入れました。樹齢が１００年を越える植物をどうやって育てているのか、そもそもなぜそのような樹が小さな姿のままなのかなどに興味を持っていただくことができました。大宮盆栽美術館で教わった「浮世絵にも登場する」「そのくらい前から日本では親しまれている」ことを紹介したところ、先生方にも大変興味を持っていただくことができました。

その後は、学校ツアーや給食、授業の特別体験や理科の共同実験、国弓体験、華城御車での水原華城観光、バディごとのオリジナル動画制作などたくさんのプログラムを通じて交流を深めることができました。気がついたら学校どころか国の垣根もほとんどなくなっており、日本の高校生と韓国の高校生が親友のように語り合っていました。まさにこのプログラムの目的を実現しているような様子でした。

三一工業高等学校の生徒・先生方から「夕食も一緒に」と提案していただき、学校の近くのレストランで食事をしました。水原王カルビという王様に由来する牛肉をいただくことができ、韓国の食文化についても体験的に学ぶことができました。夕食後は水原華城のライトアップや水原市の夜景を見ながら、みんなで記念撮影をしました。非常に素敵な時間となりました。

１１月には韓国からの訪問団として、１０名ほどの生徒が本校へ来てくれる予定です。今回のメンバーの中には日本に来るメンバーもいて、日本の文化や様子を伝えることで楽しみに思ってもらうことができたようでした。今度はこちらがホスト校として精一杯おもてなしをしたいと思っています。

＜生徒感想より＞

韓国は近い国なのに知らないことがたくさんあると感じました。文化は共通点も相違点も多く、興味深く感じました。お互いを理解していくことが大切なのだと思います。

姉妹校での交流は忘れられない素敵な体験となりました。三一工業高等学校の生徒は日本語をすごくきれいな発音で話していました。日本のアニメや学習アプリで学んだそうで、学習に対する熱量も高く、すごいと感じました。交流の時の言語は、日本語・韓国語・英語という３言語ミックスでした。相手が聞き取りやすい表現に変えて話してみる大切さにも気づきました。韓国語に挑戦してだめなら、日本語や英語で伝えてみるという選択ができるのはこのプロジェクトの面白いところだと感じました。さらに、それに加えて表情やジェスチャー、イラストなども大切なコミュニケーションツールなのだと改めて感じました。

訪問団で韓国語ガイドを事前に作成したので、簡単な挨拶は韓国語で行うことができました。韓国語を読めたことも感動です。翻訳アプリの使用も自由だったので、それを使って会話が成立する場面もありました。それはそれでよいのだと思いますが、自分もスムーズに韓国語を話せるように頑張りたいと思いました。

韓国の女子はいろいろと気を遣ってくれてとても優しいと感じました。韓国の男子は移動をエスコートしてくれるなどとても紳士的でした。交流は１日だけでしたが、日本の友達よりも親しくなれたような感覚があります。親友のようなやり取りができるようになり、貴重な経験をできたことに感謝しています。このつながりをずっと大切にしていきたいと思いました。

【Day 2 of Korea Visit: September 11, 2025】

Activities: Exchange at Samil Technical High School, Tour of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress (World Heritage Site)

This day was dedicated entirely to exchange activities with our sister school, Samil Technical High School. Students paired up as buddies and tackled various programs together. The packed schedule allowed us to become very close with both teachers and students. Having met online beforehand through virtual programs, and with some students and teachers present who had attended last year’s signing ceremony, we were able to start with a warm “Long time no see!”

During the welcome ceremony, we introduced our respective schools to each other, deepening our mutual understanding. Samil Technical High School is a traditional institution with over 120 years of history. With ten different departments, its campus was vast, resembling a university. The students participating as buddies seemed selected from various departments, and each told us about what they were studying.

Our school’s presentation included an introduction to bonsai, one aspect of Japanese culture. We sparked their interest in how plants over 100 years old are cultivated and why such trees are kept in such small forms. When we shared what we learned at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum—that bonsai appear in ukiyo-e prints and have been cherished in Japan for that long—the teachers showed great interest.

Afterwards, we deepened our connections through numerous programs: a school tour, school lunch, special class experiences, a joint science experiment, traditional Korean archery, a tour of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress in a royal carriage, and creating original videos with our buddies. Before we knew it, the barriers between schools—and indeed between countries—had almost completely dissolved. Japanese and Korean high school students were conversing like best friends. It truly seemed to embody the very purpose of this program.

Students and teachers from Samil Industrial High School suggested, “Let’s have dinner together too,” so we ate at a restaurant near the school. We enjoyed Suwon O-kalbi, beef named after royalty, gaining experiential insight into Korean food culture. After dinner, we took commemorative photos together while viewing the illuminated Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and the nightscape of Suwon City. It was a truly wonderful time.

In November, a delegation of about ten students from Korea is scheduled to visit our school. Some members of this group will also be coming to Japan, and by sharing information about Japanese culture and life, we seem to have made them look forward to their visit. This time, we intend to do our utmost to host them as the host school.

<From Student Reflections>

I realized there’s so much I didn’t know about Korea, even though it’s a neighboring country. Their culture has many similarities and differences, which I found fascinating. I think it’s important for us to understand each other.

The exchange with our sister school was an unforgettable, wonderful experience. The students from Samil Technical High School spoke Japanese with incredibly clear pronunciation. They said they learned through Japanese anime and study apps, and their passion for learning was impressive. During the exchange, we used a mix of three languages: Japanese, Korean, and English. I realized how important it is to adjust your expression to make it easier for the other person to understand. I found it interesting that this project allowed us to choose between trying Korean, switching to Japanese if that didn’t work, or using English. Furthermore, I was reminded that expressions, gestures, and illustrations are also vital communication tools.

Since we prepared Korean guides beforehand for the delegation, we could manage simple greetings in Korean. Being able to read Korean was also moving. We were free to use translation apps, and there were times when conversations worked out using them. While that’s fine in itself, I felt motivated to work hard to speak Korean smoothly myself.

I felt Korean girls were very considerate and kind in many ways. Korean boys were very gentlemanly, escorting us during transfers and such. Though the exchange lasted only one day, I felt closer to them than to Japanese friends. We developed interactions like best friends, and I’m grateful for this valuable experience. I want to cherish this connection forever.
